Read: TwoPlusTwo Poker Goals & Challenges: Doug Polk $100 to $10,000 Polk’s attempt to turn $100 into $10,000 was formally announced on Twitter Friday and quickly garnered mainstream poker media attention. Established poker writer and presenter Robbie Strazynski of Cardplayer Lifestyle published an exclusive Sunday morning writeup in which he commented that “it’s heartwarming to see that another well-known poker player is taking it upon himself to create interesting and entertaining poker content for fans to enjoy.”
Polk, a two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, was extremely candid in the scoop interview he conducted with the PokerUpdate personality. “What I am hoping to prove with this challenge is simple: I want people to know that even in the tough ecosystem of today’s online poker games, you can still run up a bankroll,” said Polk.
What are Doug’s Chances?
Years ago, many poker fans would’ve lain odds that their favorite pro could leap tall buildings at a single bound, yet the online poker landscape has shifted dramatically since the pre-Black Friday era.
Profit potential for would-be online pros has been slashed in recent years. This Sunday, the Twitch Poker star will open action facing an introductory gauntlet unheard of since Pitfall Harry made his debut on the Nintendo Entertainment System way back in the 1980s.

In recent years, pro-friendly promotions geared towards enabling skilled players to “work their way up” the ladder have been replaced by winning player beat-downs (brought to you by PokerStars) and nosebleed rake.
