Table Stakes is a rule stating that the amount of money a person has in play is limited to the amount sitting on the table.
Players can not add more money to their stack while in a hand. If a player runs out of chips before a hand is complete, a side pot is then created for the remaining players. This rule can sometimes include stopping a player from removing money from play after it is on the table.
