What is Bad Beat in Poker?

“Bad Beat” refers to when a player holds a very strong hand that nevertheless loses, either to a stronger hand or because of a suck-out.
Example: John has a full house, holding AA on a board of A7789. He goes all-in and his opponent calls, showing 77 for quads. John has just experienced a bad beat.
