3-Bet Overview
3-betting preflop is a fundamental strategy for winning at poker. Getting it right is easier than ever, thanks to the technological advances of recent years. The term 3-bet most commonly refers to the action of re-raising a preflop open. Any additional raises are referred to as a 4-bet, 5-bet, and so on.
Although the term can also refer to the first re-raise after the flop, this learning track will focus primarily on preflop 3-betting. For example, suppose another player raises preflop, leaving you with the option to call, fold, or re-raise. If you choose to re-raise, that action is called a 3-bet.
First let's quickly define it, what is the meaning of 3-bet in poker?
The term 3-bet is most commonly used to refer to the first re-raise before the flop, although the term also refers to the first re-raise after the flop. Subsequent raises are referred to as 4-bet, 5-bet, etc.
