What is Going South in Poker?
« View All Poker Terms
Going South means taking chips from your own stack off of the table in a cash game, with the aim of limiting the amount of chips that can possibly be lost. This move would usually be executed by a player who has won enough chips to be ahead for a session, and doesn’t want to lose that money back. Going South is unethical and illegal in most casinos.
