How to Find a Live Poker Tournament

Poker tournaments are still the most popular way to play poker. You have many tools at your disposal when you’re looking for information on live poker tournaments in your area.

Whether you’re looking for a local tournament, on vacation, or searching for opportunity to travel and live the poker dream, here are some of the best resources for finding a live poker tournament.

PokerAtlas

One of the best ways to find a live poker game, whether a tournament or a cash game, is on PokerAtlas. Available on browser or as a mobile app, PokerAtlas is home to one of the largest, most comprehensive databases of live poker games.

Hovering on the Tournaments tab (right under the PokerAtlas banner) produces a drop-down menu that gives you several options.

Click on Upcoming tournaments and see a chronological list of tournaments around the city that are starting within the next few hours. Click on Schedule to see the entire list of scheduled tournaments for the day within the city, organized alphabetically by casino.

A sample of the daily tournament schedule for Las Vegas.

Both of these lists can be filtered by game variant, buy-in, day, time and location. PokerAtlas also has user reviews of each poker room, so you can get a feel for what you’re getting into before you head out for a tournament.

As an added bonus, you can also type a search term like “PokerAtlas find poker tournaments in Las Vegas”, and get a custom link to the city’s tournament schedule.

The PokerAtlas database has comprehensive listings of tournaments available at casinos in the USA and Canada, as well as a few selected locations around the world.

Bravo Poker Live

Bravo Poker Live is another great tool for finding live poker tournaments.  Like PokerAtlas, Bravo is available as a both a browser-based and mobile app.

Whether you’re trying to find No-Limit Texas Hold’em, Omaha or any other kind of poker tournament, Bravo Poker Live will help you find it. Used by poker players throughout the world, Bravo offers an extensive database of live tournament info from the USA, Canada, and Europe.

The main menu gives you options to customize your search by location, filtering by region, state/province, or zip code. Once you’ve chosen a location, you can also filter for tournament buy-in amount and calendar dates:

The Bravo Poker Live homepage allows you to filter by location, buy-in and date.

Once that information is inputted, click on Apply Filters. You’ll then see a list of casinos in the area that have poker tournaments that match the criteria you’ve entered.

Click on the name of a poker room to see a list of that casino’s daily tournaments for the time frame you’ve selected. This list will include information on game variant, starting chip stack size, tournament structure, rebuys/add-ons, and guaranteed prize pools (if applicable).

Bravo also offers the option to look at a live tournament clock for selected tournaments, as well as information on payouts for cash prizes and number of players remaining,.

Like PokerAtlas, Bravo Poker Live also has a comprehensive database of cash game information for each poker room as well, so you can get some playing time in the cash games before your tournament starts.

If you’re heading to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker, Bravo is also home to all of the information you need for the entire WSOP poker tournament schedule, as well as cash games.

CardPlayer Tournament Directory

If you’d like to look a complete directory of upcoming poker tournament series ( like the World Poker Tour, WPTDeepStacks or WSOP Circuit series), there’s no better resource available than the CardPlayer poker tournament directory.

The CardPlayer tournament directory won’t have information on regularly-occurring daily tournaments at a given poker room. It does offer a year-round, comprehensive list of organized tournament poker series from around the world.

This is just a tiny fraction of the listings on the CardPlayer Tournament Directory.

This directory is a great way to keep tabs on events like the major poker festivals put on by partypoker, PokerStars, the WPT and the WSOP. It also includes everything you need to know about localized poker series like the Wynn Poker Classic and Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza.

The CardPlayer directory is an outstanding tool, even if you’re just a fan of the live tournament scene and want to know what events are coming up. It’s even better, however, if you’re trying to find the right time and place to get into some tournament poker action.

The directory is intuitively easy to use, and can filter results by month, or day. Just about every poker tournament series in existence is listed on the CardPlayer tournament directory, and you might be surprised to find out just how much opportunity is out there when it comes to playing tournament poker.

Local Casino Homepages

One more way to find live tournaments in your area is to go to the website for a chosen casino and see if it has the information you’re looking for.

For example, let’s say we’re interested in finding out what the tournament schedule looks like at the Aria in Las Vegas. A Google search for “Aria Las Vegas Poker Tournaments” gives us a custom link to this page, which has all of the information we need about the poker room’s daily tournament schedule.

Some casinos will have better websites than others when it comes to providing information about the poker room’s tournament offerings. The vast majority will have the information you need, however, and the one’s that don’t should at least have a phone number you can use to call down to the poker room.
