Quest for Purple Jacket continues with $800k at stake Sunday.
Three-time WSOP bracelet winner Doug Polk will be placing his NFL Sweat routine on hold this afternoon as he competes at the final table of Poker Masters Event #4. The 28-year old California native is currently chip leader in the $50k buy-in No Limit Hold’em tournament with 7 players remaining and a cash prize of $819,000 USD awaiting the eventual Event #4 champion.

Doug will be going against current 2017 Poker Masters leader Steffen Sontheimer of Germany when Sunday’s final table action begins at 3:30pm Eastern Time live from the Aria Poker Room in Las Vegas. Sontheimer is guaranteed to be in the lead heading into Monday’s $100,000 buy-in final event regardless of where he finishes, but could significantly extend that lead with a victory this evening.
Bryn Kenney outlasted Erik Seidel to take down Event #3 Saturday (Doug placed 5th for $144,000). Nick Schulman won the Poker Masters opening event Thursday.
The final table of Event #4 will be broadcast live, with a short delay, on the PokerGO premium subscription website ($10/month, $99/year). Poker fans who would like to keep up with the action as it happens — complete with hand histories — can check out the PokerNews Live Reporting page for Event #4 of the 2017 Poker Masters.
Upon realizing that Doug had made another Poker Masters final table, Major Wager and Poker Life Podcast host Joey Ingram added another twist to his “shaved head” agreement with Doug.
Both Ingram and Polk have become leading poker personalities in recent years thanks to their genuine outreach with fans of all skill levels along with the legitimacy they have lent to the for-profit poker playing community through their unique content.
This in spite of a marketing push by the world’s largest poker site — PokerStars — to funnel money out of the traditional online poker business model into “lottery style” formats and Internet pit games.
It remains to be seen whether Joey or Doug will wind up with hairstyles similar to those of PokerStars Director of Poker Communications Lee Jones and Global Poker League CEO Alex Dreyfus.
Only a few days remain for poker enthusiasts to sign-up for Doug Polk’s 1% Net Profit Poker Masters Giveaway, which is guaranteeing a minimum $500 USD payment up front even if the Upswing Poker pro is unable to turn a Net Profit of more than $50,000. A victory Sunday evening in Event #4 would assure a four-figure payday for at least one Giveaway hopeful.
Tune-in to PokerGO starting this afternoon at 3:30 Eastern Time to see whether our very own Doug Polk can continue his MTT streak by taking down yet another high profile poker tournament. The $100,000 buy-in Poker Masters Main Event will also be live streamed on the PokerGO website from Monday until Wednesday, September 20th.
